Dear Members, Guests and Friends,
we would like to cordially invite you to our annual highlight: the Award Ceremony of the German-Malaysian Society e.V. (DtMG) 2011
With friendly support by our Malaysian patron, H. E. Ambassador Dato’ Ibrahim Abdullah, the award ceremony will again take place in the Malaysian Embassy in Berlin, Klingelhoeferstr. 6, on 2 December 2011, 16:00 – 18:30 hours, followed by our popular “get – together”. We would be very pleased to welcome you to this occasion.
We would also like to express our gratitude to our German patron, Datuk Edgar Nordmann and his wife Datin Zai, who jointly with Ambassador Abdullah will hand over the awards to our esteemed recipients.
Traditionally, we honour with this award two outstanding personalities from Malaysia and Germany who through their personal efforts and very individual signatures have provided compelling answers to overarching social and cultural challenges and developments.
The DtMG award 2011 focuses on the impact of individuals who initiate and shape socioeconomic and cultural change through bold decision-making while fostering stability and progress for the better of the many in the German and Malaysian societies.
In our turbulent times, especially, strong leaders are needed who are able to ambitiously and tirelessly set the pathways towards sustainable prosperity, who strive for compelling solutions to improve life circumstances such as health, food, water, and climate change. Their success will be measured by parameters beyond wealth, or the traditional ownership of land and factories, but by the level of entrepreneurial and technological spirit and creativity, the constructive consideration of culture, integrity, identity and the environment in the process of required change.
Our two award recipients 2011 have excelled as such leaders with passion, integrity and stimulating initiatives both in their respective countries and internationally as economic and political ambassadors between our two cultures.
The German award recipient 2011 is Senator e.h. Datuk Dr. Helmut Baur, Chairman and CEO of Binder Optik AG, and Board Member of the German Association of Small- and Medium-Sized Enterprises. In his many eminent positions in life he has been tirelessly and passionately pursuing a process of awareness raising in Germany and Malaysia for the needs but also for the opportunities that arise through joining our cultural and economic forces in our globalizing world.
Our Malaysian award recipient 2011 is Honourable Tan Sri Rafidah Aziz who has earned herself famous reputation as courageous and tireless minister striving for the development of trade, industry and progress in Malaysia, in close cooperation with Germany in Europe. After having served as minister in the governmental arena for over 20 years, she is now pursuing such path with equal passion as patron of the nongovernmental Malaysia-Europe Forum (MEF) and board member of AirAsia X Sdn. Berhad, Malaysia.
Both award recipients have through their commitment and vigorous activities in business and politics made their marks: they have fostered economic and political stability through inspiring people to peacefully, i.e. economically, coping with the challenges that globalization causes in all sectors of life. Both recipients have been role models for strong, passionate and integer initiating and shaping of fundamental change in their respective professional environments, business and politics. They have opened new economic opportunities helping to achieve better lives with better health and better social prospects for many.
We are therefore very happy and proud to honour these personalities at the Malaysian Embassy in Berlin with our DtMG Award 2011.
During our traditional “get – together” following the ceremony there will be many opportunities for exchange and networking among our members and guests.
On behalf of our society, its Board and Advisory Council, we would like to cordially invite you to join us for this highlight event on 2 December 2011.
